A mindful Father’s Day morning at home
Tips from Crystalbrook Byron
Forget the socks and the greasy backyard BBQ. This Father’s Day, focus on Dad’s health and wellness - two topics that often get forgotten in today’s busy (sometimes locked down) world. Since travelling to exotic retreats isn’t a possibility, it’s time to get creative and plan the ultimate spa day from the comfort of your home.
Our team at Crystalbrook Byron in Byron Bay (AKA Australia’s wellness capital) have pulled together the perfect schedule to help Dad restore and reset.
9:00am: A nourishing acai crunch bowl and a nourishing conversation
Follow this simple recipe from our chef’s to whip a nourishing acai bowl and serve with a big mug of herbal tea. Use this time to connect mindfully with your Dad or father figure. Some conversation prompts can include:
- If my dad was a superhero, his power would be…
- What does it mean to be a father?
- What is one thing your dad does really well that you'd want him to teach you someday?
- What is a childhood memory that brings me joy
- What is the hardest part about being a father?
10:00am: Morning salutations from Byron Bay
Roll out your yoga (or a comfortable rug) and stream our daily yoga practice straight from Crystalbrook Byron. This yoga practice is an amazing stretch and peaceful meditation for the whole family to do at home - plus you still get our magical resort rainforest for a backdrop!
11:00am: Buff, scrub, soothe and spritz
After working up a sweat, it’s time for Dad to hop in the shower. A skin-care ritual is a simple indulgence and a way to balance and bring him back to his centre. Bask in the more masculine gifts nature has to offer starting with a purifying body exfoliation with a Sodashi Himalayan salt scrub. Follow with Sodashi’s Clean Skin Cleanser and Shaving Emulsion, a luxurious, dual-action cleanser with Jojoba and Macadamia that’s perfect for male skin. Both products are used in the Viking Odyssey, a favourite treatment at Eléme Day Spa.
Up the relaxation ante with a full body spritz of magnesium spray. It’s to DIY your own blend as a thoughtful Father’s Day gift. Did you know that 80% of us are deficient in magnesium? It is necessary for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body. The ocean is a great source of magnesium which is why you always feel so wonderful on holiday. If you don’t have daily access to the beach, magnesium spray can be the easiest and most effective way to soak up magnesium
Magnesium Spray Recipe
- ½ cup Magnesium Chloride powder or flakes
- ½ cup distilled water
- 30 drops of essential oil
Add all the ingredients into a bowl and stir until the magnesium has dissolved. Transfer into a spray bottle and spritz all over.
12:00pm: Guided meditation
Now it’s time for Dad to wrap up his sublime morning with a gift from Crystalbrook Byron – a moment of relaxation with a special guided meditation. Here’s to all the Dads, granddads, carers, and single mums out there.
